Choosing the perfect venue for your wedding.
February 26, 2010
It can be very difficult choosing the perfect location for the most important day of your life. Therefore when my best friend got married “outside” two years ago it was a welcomed break from tradition for everyone. She loves the countryside having grown up in a remote village, therefore it seemed the perfect setting for the country girl.
It was a lovely little piece of woodland conveniently in the grounds of a gorgeous little Hotel. It turned out that she could only have a blessing outdoors and had attended the registry office earlier that day to be formerly wed, however everyone got in to the spirit of the occasion and it was a wonderful day.
Themed weddings
February 25, 2010
My brother has been engaged for a number of years now, and he always jokes that when he gets married he is going to ask everyone to come in fancy dress! Personally I could not imagine anything more ridiculous for my own wedding, however I can see that it would be a lot of fun for all the guests.
My brother is particularly keen to persuade his other half that the theme of the fancy dress should be “Star Wars” as this is his favourite film! No doubt he is expecting his fiancé to dress like Princess Leia and he will dress as Luke Sky Walker! Even if he is just winding up his other half, it is certainly something that some people do and I am sure there is lots of fun to be had!
It appears that marriage is rapidly going out of fashion
February 19, 2010
Official figures revealed last week that the number of people getting married has hit a new low. Women today are three times less likely to get married than their mothers generation. Less than one in 50 women went through with a wedding in 2008 across England and Wales. The marriage rate was the lowest in a non year war since records were started in 1862.The average first time bride is now 29.9 years old, whilst men who marry for the first time on average, are just over 32 years old. The figures have provoked a fresh debate over why couples are choosing not to marry?
TV wedding of the year to take place this week!
February 15, 2010
The story line of Archies murder has kept us glued to our screens for a number of weeks now. Our attention turns to Bianca Jacksons Wedding to Ricky Butcher this week, and courtesy of her dad, David Wicks the dress is a lot more attractive than the one she wore the first time round!
In the days leading up to the wedding we have seen a number of old faces return to the square to watch the happy couple tie the knot.
Pasty Palmer wears a halterneck gown with diamante flowers on it for the wedding to be shown this week I have seen pictures in magazines and she certainly looks like a princess in preparation for her big day. I am sure she will be hoping all runs smoothly.
Why not get married in the Houses of Parliament!
February 5, 2010
Two rooms within the Palace of Westminster can now be used by the public for marriages and civil partnerships. Previously only MPs, parliamentary officials and their families could only be married at the Houses of Parliament. Westminster City Council granted the licence approving for two rooms to be used for civil ceremonies until 2013. It was in October last year that Gordon Brown urged John Bercow the Commons Speaker to allow civil partnerships to be held within Parliament for the first time. Two rooms will be available, the Jubilee Room and the MPs dining room which overlooks the Thames. They have space for approximately 80-150 people.
Wedding Cup Cakes
January 31, 2010
There is a new trend for the wedding cake part of your wedding. The new wave sweeping is cup cakes and cup cake towers. These can be great because wedding cake and be pretty boring fruit cake and often not eaten by majority of the guests; whereas cup cakes can be handed round and easily eaten. I think this is great. I personally love cup cakes and there are companies out there that specialise in the making and decorating wedding cup cakes. You can purchase all sorts of designs and it is definitely something different for your wedding. Even better you can colour code it much easier to suit the theme of your wedding. They can even make them into towers to look like the tiers of a wedding cake!

Themed Weddings – Yes or No?
My friend was telling me about a wedding she went to recently that a medieval themed wedding. Everyone who attended, even the guests were dressed in the proper medieval attire, there was a even jester for entertainment. For dinner was a traditional meal, included a hog roast and apple pie. After the ceremony there was the usually wedding stuff, speeches, first dances etc but then after that there was a sword fight display! Slightly odd for a wedding but hey….whatever floats your boat. I don’t know if I would be able to take this wedding seriously – is this really what the bride imagined for her wedding day when she was a little girl? Don’t know how I feel about themed weddings!!!

Celebrity Weddings 2010
January 29, 2010
Some of the most anticipated weddings in 2010 are most definitely
• Emily Blunt and John Krasinski
• Bethenny Frankel and Jason Poppy
• Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem
• Vince Vaughn and Kyla Weber
• Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart
• Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski
• Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen
• Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer
It pains me to say that Hayden Christensen is going to be off the market, one very good look man off the shelf and I’m sure that some men will be gutted that the lucky lady Rachael Bilson is the one to snap him up.
Jennifer Aniston is surely affected by the marriage of her ex Vince Vaughan to his new lady, estate agent, Kyla Weber.

The Most Expensive Wedding Dress Ever Made
January 28, 2010
One of the most expensive wedding dresses ever created, worth even more than Princess Diana’s dress is the Renee Strausse Wedding Gown. This amazingly sparkly number is worth an astonishing $12 million!!!!!! The designer Renee Strausse teamed up with Martin Katz Jewellers to make a dress completely covered with diamonds – up to 150 carats worth all laced into the dress. The veil is a bit of let down, not as sparkly and covered in Rhinestones not diamonds. Apparently it is the most expensive wedding dress on record in the world; rumour has it there is one worth $19 million though!! I’m yet to find a picture or an article relating to it completely though!! Let me know if you find one!

Something a little different
December 10, 2009
Most girls through their childhood have dreams of how they see their wedding day. It most cases, it’s all floating big white dresses, flowers displayed it all possible spaces, a church choir singing with angelic voices in the beautiful village Church…
However, you’re going to spend at least £10,000 ( or that’s how much they reckon – at the least!) so why not be a little different and give everyone something to remember your day by…
- How about diving out of an aeroplane? – with the Vicar still by the side of you!
- Get married under water perhaps – wearing your diving equipment?
- Rise above it all in a Hot Air Balloon – sipping Champagne?
- Or drive round your favourite City on an open top bus?
No – not for you? Back to tradition and your girly dreams so Church it is then!!
